New Orleans artist, Bailey Flores, has gone to the depth of Gospel and back to find her sound. Landing in this sweet spot between Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, Bailey enjoys being a culmination of the sounds she grew up with and the emotions she’s discovered through her early life experiences.

Every year on her birthday, Bailey drops a fresh single to celebrate kicking it for another year. Last year, she dropped a sick cover of Doja Cat’s “Kiss Me More.” This year, she’s got an original for us, the hyper pop candy of “Supernova.” This song is in many ways the polar opposite of the DC cover. We caught up with Flores and asked her about the inspiration for the new single. “I’d recently gotten into voice acting (I really want to voice anime characters) so I was inspired to sing this song in character instead of in my natural singing voice. I wrote the words and tracked my vocals for this about a year ago. The words have taken on a deeper meaning for me following the overturning of Roe vs Wade. The current situation we are in makes me want to put this song out right now to share a message of positivity and the importance of female allyship and empowerment, and how we can overcome anything together. There’s strength in numbers.”

Flores is a regular collaborator with EDM artist SoDown and Grammy nominated producer KC Da Producer who recently produced “There She Go” by Justin Bieber. When she’s not writing the next song that’s about to be stuck in your head, she can be found rocking her signature, colorful hair or playing video games with her fur children, ebula and Mr. Baby. With the hopes of being immortalized as an anime character (naturally), she has a deep appreciation of fantasy culture. She’s the perfect combination of virtuosic talent and pure, unrestrained fun.
