An annual event that features top Canadian talent and raises money for various charities across the community. Throwing the 14th annual event on December 23, they’ve already raised over $200K this year alone. I’d love to offer Amplify Music a media pass to cover the event.

Some Canadian favourites have already been announced such as: Tim Hicks, The Trews, Matt Mays, Golden Feather, Tyler Kyte of Dwayne Gretzky, Luke Bentham Of The Dirty Nil and more special guests to make appearances throughout the evening (previous special guests include The Arkells, Tom Wilson, The Trews, Monster Truck).

What’s truly special about this event is the purity behind everyone’s intentions. It gives fans an intimate performance with some of Canada’s biggest names, while everyone involved – from the artists, production, venue, and food/beverage – 100% donate their time and services. Every year tickets for this popular Hamilton Holiday fundraiser sellout within minutes and has become one of the most beloved holiday events in the region.

Last year the concert unfortunately had to be canceled due to the rise of Covid cases, but in an incredible demonstration of community spirit, people started opting out of getting their money refunded. Money for concert tickets & vip tables was generously donated and within a few days over $96.5K was raised which we then donated directly to 19 different charities! “After having to cancel the concert, this was truly inspiring & it was an incredible reminder of why we do this every year,” JR shares.

About the JR DiGS AcousticXmas Concert:

The first Acoustic Christmas Concert was held at The Casbah Lounge, born from the idea that JR simply wanted to play guitar and sing some songs with friends in an effort to raise money for folks in need in Hamilton. JR, who is better known for being a comedian and a Gemini Award and Screen Award nominated television host, has many pals much more musically inclined that he is, which helped this concert become what it is today. Over the years, musicians such as Max Kerman from the Arkells, Tom Wilson, Terra Lightfoot, The Trews, Monster Truck, Walk Off The Earth, The Dirty Nil, Randy Bachman, July Talk, Gord Sinclair of the Tragically Hip, Tim Hicks and many more have come together to make this annual Hamilton holiday fundraiser such a special and successful night, and has continued to grow year after year into a pillar of the holiday season for Hamiltonians.
