As Canadians step into warmer weather, leaving the darkness of winter behind, two-time JUNO Award nominated songwriter Royal Wood is giving everyone a reason to celebrate with the release of a reimagined version of the 80’s chart-topping, smash hit “Tainted Love.” Setting the stage for what’s to come this year from the prolific songwriter, this release arrives just as Wood heads out to give fans a sneak peek of new material on a 16-stop spring tour, kicking off on April 26 in Yorkton, SK.

With more than 12.5 million global career streams, Wood has been consistently celebrated as one of Canada’s best songwriters. His innate ability to capture the beauty of love and loss has earned him recognition from Billboard and NPR and seen him share the stage with countless world-renowned artists, including Bonnie Raitt and David Gray. Wood’s genuine approach to writing songs that tell stories of the heart has become his calling card, a fact the songwriter is incredibly proud of, stating “I’ve always been drawn to writing and singing love songs. And honestly, I’m not embarrassed to admit it. Love songs make the world go round.”

Kicking off the 16-date BEHIND THE CURTAIN TOUR at the end of April in Yorkton, SK (April 26), Wood will spend three full weeks visiting rural Saskatchewan communities performing brand new music from his upcoming unreleased album and fan favourites as well. This will be his first Canadian tour in two years. “I couldn’t think of a better place to debut new music and to kick off my first Canadian tour in years than Saskatchewan,” said Wood. “As an artist, I have a long list of great memories here — from performing to sold out crowds at the Broadway Theatre to headlining the Saskatoon Jazz Fest, I can’t wait to celebrate being back on stage with a weekly residency to debut new songs at The Bassment and 13 other shows across the province with some of our biggest fans.”
