Following on from her triple j Unearthed High-winning debut, 17-year-old singer/songwriter, George Alice, returns with highly-anticipated follow-up single, Stuck In a Bubble – out now via Concord/Caroline Australia.
Produced by Reunion Island-born, NASAYA, and mixed by production powerhouse, Neal Pogue, (Tyler The Creator, PINK!, Anderson Paak, Robyn), Stuck In a Bubble showcases George’s unique vocal and artistry in just over two-and-a-half minutes.
“I’m hoping Stuck In a Bubble can be heard as an anthem for people young and old who feel like their ground isn’t steady, they don’t have plans, and ultimately are just a little confused about the world around them,” George says. “I’m filled with questions I don’t think I will ever find answers to, but hopefully this is the arm of comfort reaching towards you to be on this journey together.”
The partnering music video features triple j Unearthed alumni Mali Jose, Debbies, Nick Ward, Tulliah, Matilda Pearl and Daniel Steinhart (TOWNS) – with George and co. teaming up with Melbourne-based professional dancers, Melissa Yvonne Pham, Jayden Wall, Martha Berhane, Steve Fernando to create a clip shot remotely by each performer and compiled completely of their self-shot footage.
“Originally planning visuals and ideas months ahead, like many others, we realized the reality of COVID–19 meant that we had to adapt,” George explains. “The shoot was really special having to plan, rehearse and film all through a phone in different places. Referencing the Brady Bunch and TV shows from over the years, the video has come together and fulfilled my expectations showing isolation in a fun positive light!”
George is proud to have enlisted an entirely female production team for the making of this video, including director Claudia Brand, choreographer Zoee Marsh, stylist Jam Baylon and producer Caroline Fanning. Watch it here.
