It is mind-boggling how prolific some artists are and how busy others are on the music scene, even if they are not always creating or recording new music. One such artist, who kind of ticks the boxes in both of those departments, is Dmitry Wild. The Moscow-born, NYC-raised current Hudson resident has always had multiple projects on the go from since he picked up a guitar, so to speak. Finally, over the past few years, he has finally come into his own as a solo artist (although he still fronts Dmitry Wild & The Spells) and his new album ‘Electric Souls’ is on the near horizon. Today we have the pleasure of introducing folks to this rocking 11-track collection.

Showcasing his trademark blend of 70’s vintage rock, garage rock and punk ethos, this single follows the lead track ‘Liberation’ feat. Tryst with its accompanying video, featuring imagery that is symbolic of protest and hope, filmed in Ukraine, Spain, Czech Republic and various US locales, including Florida, Massachusetts, Tennessee and San Francisco.

Very passionate about the craft of songwriting, Dmitry Wild used the downtime of the great pandemic to get some serious work done, completing the final writing for this solo album and gradually recording this material. Some material from earlier is also included, dating back to when he was living in California. With music steeped in garage rock and rock n roll, this album also brings in the flair of 80’s epic synths, bluesy songs, gypsy-inspired compositions, and 70’s-inspired driving tunes.

On this album, Wild collaborated with Strange House Media, their main engineer, Byron Frayne, mixing most of the songs included here and mastering the full album. This collaboration also extended to the two songs released from this album to date – the videos for ‘Don’t Need Anybody’, ‘Castle Walls’ the most recent Jesus and Mary Chain-flavored single ‘Sweetest Thing’ were filmed and edited by Strange House Media.

‘Electric Souls’ will be released via Apple MusicSpotify andBandcamp, where it can already be ordered. Dmitry’s live band Dmitry Wild & The Spells currently involves drummer Tommy Love, bassist Robert Paley, keyboardist Garret Smelcer and David Varlow on rhythm guitar. When also sometimes joined by notable Rockabilly bassist Chops LaConte, things take on a more theatrical turn. The band has a string of live shows coming up to mark this album release (see below).
