Since the release of their 2021 single “Finish Line,” Hamilton, Ontario’s The Redhill Valleys have been tearing up the international Americana scene. They further displayed that earlier in 2022 with the release of Travel Well, Pt. 1, which included “Finish Line,” its follow-up single “Anymore,” and four more tracks that fully captured the explosive fusion of rock and country that has built The Redhill Valleys’ stellar reputation both on stage and in the studio.
Travel Well, Pt. 2 has now arrived, containing six more tracks—five originals including the first single “Old Country Song,” that give nods to the classic Nashville sound of the early ‘60s, the raw rootsiness of The Band, and the timeless melodicism of the Traveling Wilburys. Topping it off is a studio version of one of their live staples, Lucinda Williams’ “I Lost It,” sung passionately as always by bassist Chelsea McWilliams.
Along with Chelsea, The Redhill Valleys are comprised of Tim Allard (guitar and vocals), Danielle Beaudin (guitar and vocals) and Matt Soliveri (drums and vocals), with each contributing their unique personality and style to create a sound unmatched by any other Canadian roots rock act. Along with their videos being consistently added to DittyTV, the band has received glowing reviews at American Songwriter, Adobe & Teardrops, Great Dark Wonder and many other outlets.
Travel Well, Pt. 2 was again co-produced by Tim Allard and the band’s longtime mentor Carl Jennings, with sessions taking place at various studios over the past six years, following the release of The Redhill Valleys’ self-titled debut album in 2016. In a joint statement, the band says, “Since we put out Travel Well, Pt. 1 in June 2022, we have received a lot of great feedback on this new chapter of music we’re finally able to release into the world. It feels like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders because we have had these songs written and recorded for so long, but now we can finally share them and say, ‘Hey, this is who we are, this is what we do.’”
Travel Well, Pt. 2 comes on the heels of a busy summer that found The Redhill Valleys showcase at Toronto’s North By Northeast Festival, embark on a weeklong UK tour that included an appearance at the Maverick Festival, and also perform at Ottawa Bluesfest, Boots And Hearts, and the Cavendish Beach Festival.
Bridging country and rock in their own distinct way, The Redhill Valleys’ sound is truly something special, bringing a diverse crowd of music lovers together.
