Photos by Joanna Gleason – Dawes is an American folk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2009. The band consists of brothers Taylor Goldsmith (lead vocals and guitar) and Griffin Goldsmith (drums), along with Wylie Gelber (bass) and Lee Pardini (keys).

The Goldsmith brothers grew up in a musical household, with their father being a musician and their mother being a songwriter. They were heavily influenced by classic rock and folk music, and these influences can be heard in their sound. Dawes’ music is characterized by its intricate harmonies, melodic hooks, and thoughtful lyrics that often explore themes of love, nostalgia, and introspection.

In 2009, Dawes released their debut album, “North Hills,” which was well-received by critics and helped establish them in the indie folk scene. They followed up with their sophomore album, “Nothing Is Wrong,” in 2011, which further solidified their reputation as talented songwriters.
