Remember when rock and roll used to be fun? Sounding like a love child between Jack White and Mungo Jerry, “Shake Your Bangs”, the new barnburner from Utah’s Branson Anderson will have you singing along before you even have time to find out what the hell Shake Your Bangs even means.
Anderson cites influences from Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan to Justin Townes Earle and Charlie Parr. Aspects of all four can be heard in this three minute rocker. Each verse is funnier than the last. The opening salvo says
Wrap your arms around me
Run your fingers through my hair
And when you have to go
Sever your arms and leave them there.
And it only gets better from there. More from Mr. Anderson, please!
“Shake Your Bangs” is out now on all your favorite streaming services. Hey, what does Shake Your Bangs mean?
