GRAMMY and JUNO Award-winning artist and internationally acclaimed songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk releases Rockstar Joy via Wax Records, an emotionally charged collection of ten new original songs that captures the passion, complexity and contradictions of love and life in the spotlight. With her unmistakable voice and expressive piano at its centre, the album explores desire, devotion and the freedom to grow, while reaching beyond the personal to confront war, justice and grief.
Recorded at Fuse Studio in Stockholm, Sweden, Rockstar Joy continues Kreviazuk’s collaboration with acclaimed producer Eric Rosse (Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles). Together, they give these personal songs an expansive musical setting, surrounding Kreviazuk’s piano and voice with strings, horns and full-band arrangements.
“To me, one of the most beautiful things about love is giving each other the freedom to grow,” says Kreviazuk. “Raine and I have our own creative lives, and we also come together through our family, touring, writing and recording. It’s about growing separately without growing apart—supporting each other’s journeys without trying to control them. This album reflects my own life and my thoughts on love, war, justice and grief, alongside the love and devotion I feel for my husband and family.”
The album’s focus track, “Better Than You,” brings that emotional openness into a tender, sensual expression of desire. Co-written with Tyler Armes and Kyle Reynolds, it captures the intensity of attraction and the vulnerability of loving deeply.
Across the record, that intimacy sits alongside sharp social observation and reflections on loss. “Monster” channels grief into resilience, while “G.I. Joe” takes a pointed look at the human cost of war. Kreviazuk makes room for tenderness, anger and humour, bringing the same conviction to the personal and the political.
Rockstar Joy follows May’s In My Own Voice, which reimagined songs Kreviazuk wrote for artists including Drake, Kelly Clarkson, Kendrick Lamar and Gwen Stefani. With more than 300 million global streams and a catalogue of international hits, her two 2026 albums celebrate both the reach of her songwriting and the deeply personal voice behind it.
The release adds to an exceptionally prolific year for Kreviazuk, who is currently touring Canada with her husband, Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida, on their Break Your Heart Tour. Their bestselling co-memoir, I’m Going To Break Your Heart: A Rock ’n’ Roll Love Story, invites readers into the realities of building a marriage and family alongside two careers in music. Rockstar Joy carries that honesty into her solo songwriting, with the title track offering an intimate view of the performer she loves and the private life they share. Together, the record, memoir and tour bring audiences closer to their shared story and the distinct creative lives within it.
