Sacramento band Fleeting Joys quietly released its debut album Despondent Transponder in 2006. In the years since then, the album has become known in internet circles as a lost shoegaze classic, regularly fetching well over $100 on discogs for a vinyl copy (and over $50 just for the CD!).

Now the band is reissuing Despondent Transponder on vinyl in preparationg for more new material in the very near future.

***Fleeting Joys’ swirling guitars, layers of noise, drugged out soft male and female vocals going back and forth… sounding like part love, part death, part hope, part sadness. It’s as if they’ve turned their instruments into liquid and poured them into your ears.California’s Fleeting Joys’ gorgeous song-crafting melds swirly psychedelia with saturated shoegaze in the vein of Loveless-era My Bloody Valentine. An aural assault of shivering dissonant guitars, low-end bass lines, atmospheric keyboards, layers of squalls, heavy drums, and buried androgynous vocals. Lush melancholia for the shoegazer soul.
