Pop-infused indie rock band MONOWHALES premiere a confident and playful new song titled “BL/FF (Fake Friends)”.  Vocalist Sally Shaar shares, “‘BL/FF (Fake Friends)’ gases you up for a hook-up. Memories flood into your head about that damn person that’s hard to get over because the tension is just too fun to avoid. Imagine a late night, your phone dings and you get that far too familiar message. So, you jump in your car at 3am and turn this song up surrounded by streetlights and heavy feelings of lust on your way to some spicy sleepover.” Drummer Jordan Circosta adds, “A lot of these encounters end with this weird dance where both people have to pretend to be friends for a while. If we were just a bit more honest with one another, we’d be better off!”

Join MONOWHALES on November 26, 2020 at 8pm ET (Tickets HERE) and November 27 at 9pm ET (TicketsHERE) for their worldwide livestream shows hosted live from the legendary El Mocambo in Toronto.

The formidable 3-piece recently released the official video for power anthem “All or Nothing” of which Sally says, “The main goal with this one was to capture the essence of our live performance…and break some shit.” She continues, “We also love it when artists sprinkle easter eggs in their art, so we decided to add some of our own little treasures that reflect key pieces of our past.” Watch and share the smashing video directed by Ievy Stamatov.

Official current radio single “All or Nothing” has reached Top 10 on the charts at both Mediabase CanadaAlternative Rock and Billboard Canada Modern Rock, produced by JUNO Award nominated Producer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Brave Shores) and mixed by JUNO Award winning Mix Engineer Jason Dufour (July Talk, Tokyo Police Club). About taking risks and believing in the power of your own will, “All or Nothing” is the follow-up to the band’s hit single “RWLYD (Really Wanna Let You Down)” which broke the radio record for highest charting unsigned band by hitting #2 on the Mediabase Canada Alternative Rock Chart in early 2020. With support from a number of Canadian stations, including but not limited to 102.1 The Edge Toronto, INDIE88 Toronto, SiriusXM’s The Verge, CHOM Montreal, CFOX Vancouver, 94.9 The Rock Oshawa, Live 88.5 Ottawa, The Peak Vancouver, X92.9 Calgary, X100.7 Red Deer, The Zone Victoria, Stingray Digital Rock Alternative Channel, “All or Nothing” is following the same trajectory as “RWLYD” which was heralded by Alan Cross as a “song you must hear” and spun on radio to an audience of 26 million people to date. “All or Nothing” is currently the #2 most spun song at CFOX Vancouver and #3 most spun song at 102.1 The Edge Toronto and is in heavy rotation at INDIE88 Toronto.

MONOWHALES made the long list for the Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class, and have been working diligently the past few years on their songwriting, live show, and building their fanbase. Their new record, produced by Worsley, is slated for release in early 2021.

ABOUT MONOWHALES
Based in Toronto, MONOWHALES exploded onto the scene with a DIY ethos and killer live shows. Their debut single “Take It Back” quickly rose to #25 on the Alternative Rock charts after its release in late 2017. A collaboration with producer Al-P (Death From Above 1979, Young Empires) spawned their debut EP Control Freak, hitting virtual shelves the following summer. The band followed this up with countless shows across Canada, including support slots for K.Flay, Sloan, and Marianas Trench, amongst others. Multiple songs from Control Freak are featured in Netflix’s Spinning Out series and CBC drama Northern Rescue. The band partnered with JUNO-award nominated producer Ryan Worsley (Dear Rouge, Brave Shores) for recording sessions in the spring of 2019 which produced their single “RWLYD (Really Wanna Let You Down)”, propelling MONOWHALES into the mainstream and helping them make history as the only independent, self-managed band to hit #2 on the Mediabase Canada Alternative Rock Chart. MONOWHALES were also awarded the Jim Beam INDIE Award for Best Alternative Artist/Group of the Year and the Forest City London Music Award for Ontario Independent Recording Artist that same year.

A cross-Canada tour followed the release of “RWLYD”, with the band stopping off in BC to complete their new album with Worsley. MONOWHALES gave fans a taste of the resulting album with the release of “All or Nothing” in late August, 2020, which has hit Top 10 at Alternative radio in Canada and continues to climb.
