CMAO nominated singer-songwriter Alli Walker is back with the release of a new single “Country Music.” Giving listeners insight into some of the biggest country tracks and artists that have shaped Walker’s life, the nostalgic and upbeat track is available on all streaming platforms today. Fans are also encouraged to stay tuned for the official lyric and visualizer videos which are slated for release over the coming weeks.

Written by Walker, Dustin Bird (Open Road Recordings) and Brian John Harwood (Kansas Stone) and produced by Danick Dupelle (Tebey, Tyler Joe Miller, Emerson Drive), the track got its debut on TikTok earlier this year. Quickly racking up over a million views and thousands of comments on Walker’s channel, the demo allowed fans to bond over the role country music has played in their lives. Keeping listeners on their toes, “Country Music” provides a treasure hunt of references weaved through the lyrics from Walker, Bird and Harwood’s all-time favourite tracks that fans are challenged to find.

“I wanted the production, storytelling and emotion of this song to feel as nostalgic as it does when listening to some of the songs we mention in the track,” said Walker of how “Country Music” came together. “I can still remember belting out Alison Krauss’s part in ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ when I was a teenager, repeating ‘Remember When’ by Alan Jackson over and over on my little blue MP3 player and performing ‘Strawberry Wine’ to a slow dancing crowd with my cover band. When I sing this song it brings back so many memories of discovering my favourite country tracks throughout my life.”

Today’s release of “Country Music” showcases Walker’s first new music since dropping her debut album The Basement Sessions in Fall 2019. It also marks a new direction for the PEI native as she finds her sound and carves her own path in the industry. “Prior to my debut album, I spent over 10 years getting my feet wet – I knew I needed my 10K hours and my ‘dues paid’ before I released anything of my own,” said Walker of her journey. “Writing, recording, and releasing my debut album on my own in 2019 was the perfect experience on what it takes to be an independent artist and still cut through the noise. The response far exceeded my expectations and I could not be more excited for everyone to hear this new music from my next life chapter.”

Walker’s debut in 2019 focused on what she coined ‘Mindful Music’ and ‘Conscious Country,’ which narrated her own personal mental health journey. Since then, Walker has found her footing and, while her new music isn’t as specifically focused on these topics, she will continue to build a space for vulnerability and honest storytelling through her music. Fans will hear more of this on her sophomore album set to release in Fall 2022.

With today’s release, it’s clear to see that Walker has taken the time to build a strong foundation for what is to come. With a new-found understanding of where she’s headed, Walker will step out onto the stage this fall across Ontario. Fans can catch her at the El Mocambo on October 21 and at Sons of Kent Brewing in Chatham on Oct 23.
