Armed with a resonant message and powerful delivery, newcomer Ash Molloy unveils her poignant sophomore single “I Knew,” released in solidarity with Domestic Abuse Awareness Month. Available today via Wax Records, the hard-hitting track sheds light on the delicate stories that are often left unspoken, and hidden behind closed doors. The candid, introspective release is accompanied by a moving music video, directed by multi-platinum artist and creative Alyssa Reid, who beautifully personifies the challenging emotional journey of breaking free.
“I Knew is a vulnerable song that speaks to negative self-talk and trusting your gut,” Molloy shares. “Releasing this music during Domestic Abuse Awareness Month was intentional – as I slowly unveiled parts of the song to friends and family, I found myself faced with multiple intimate stories of partner violence. It’s a song for them.“
In a effort to further amplify her support Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, Ash Molloy has initiated a fundraising campaign in support of Iris Kirby House in her hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Iris Kirby House provides a safe haven for abused women from all walks of life, offering support and the opportunity to explore alternatives to living in an abusive relationship. Reminiscent of 90’s alt-icons like Fiona Apple – Ash Molloy is vulnerable, raw, and unfiltered in her approach to music. A multi-instrumentalist with a degree in neuroscience, she’s full of surprises as she bares it all with her deep-cutting takes on sexuality, body-shame, and life as a woman. Not fitting the mold of her small town in St John’s, Newfoundland, Molloy is an absolute force of an artist, making a name for herself with her mesmerizing live show, powerhouse vocals, poignant lyrics, and sheer tenacity to get her message out into the world. Saying all the things we’re afraid to say out loud, Ash Molloy bleeds authenticity and induces goosebumps for anyone lucky enough to see her live in these early days.
