It’s with plenty of excitement that Blue Jay Sessions announces that it will be popping up in London, ON next month to celebrate Canadian country talent from across Canada. Blue Jay Sessions: Cross Country will take place at London’s popular Union Ten Distilling Co. and feature 30+ musicians from Nov. 26-28 in a variety of songwriters’ sessions as well as a special open mic event the evening of Sunday, Nov. 28.
“Since we first launched Blue Jay Sessions in summer 2019, we have made a goal of encouraging collaboration between musicians across Canada while creating a sense of community,” says event series founder Dan Clapson. “I can’t wait to get to London and welcome new (to us) and familiar faces to our sessions.”
There are so many talented country singers converging in London in anticipation of the 2021 CCMA Awards. As such, nightly performer lineups will give attendees a taste of the musical talent from coast to coast. Bobby Wills, BC’s Taylor-Rae, Newfoundland’s Mallory Johnson and Justin Fancy, Manitoba’s Doc Walker and Desiree Dorion, Saskatchewan’s Tyler Lewis and Ontario’s Nicole Rayy, Alessia Cohle and Aaron Allen are just a few examples of the talent that folks will get to experience.
“It’s exciting to be headed to London for the CCMA Awards next month and all they have to offer,” says Country Music Alberta’s 2020 Female Artist of the Year Mariya Stokes. “I have been performing with Blue Jay Sessions since 2019 and I’m happy that folks in Ontario can finally get a taste of what it’s all about!”
Paying homage to Blue Jay Sessions’ Western Canadian roots, Friday, Nov. 26 will be a celebration of all things Alberta with a kickoff session featuring chart-topping singer Aaron Goodvin along with Hailey Benedict, The Prairie States and Amy Hef. Current CCMA Award nominees Nice Horse and Ryan Lindsay, Mariya Stokes, D’orjay The Singing Shaman, Aaron Pollock and more will also perform in sessions later in the evening.
Union Ten Distilling Co. will have a wide range of food and drink options available over the weekend including cocktails made with their own spirits, Russell Brewing Co. craft beer and more.
Blue Jay Sessions is also being considered for the 2021 Live Innovation Award at this year’s Canadian Country Music Awards. This new category is meant to uplift and celebrate different individuals and event producers who helped keep live music alive during the onset and height of the pandemic.
Tickets are $20 each and on sale now via Showpass.
