As Calgary prepares to roll out the red carpet for the 2022 CCMA Awards presented by TD, today the Canadian Country Music Association® (CCMA) revealed this year’s nominees. Proving that Alberta is the perfect place to celebrate the best in Canadian country music, today’s announcement saw 12 Alberta artists recognized with nominations, three of whom became first-time CCMA Award nominees. Winners will be announced on September 11 as the 2022 CCMA Awards presented by TD broadcast live from Calgary, AB on Global at 8 p.m. ET.

Adding to the excitement, the CCMA also announced the first round of performers for the 2022 CCMA Awards presented by TD today — Jade Eagleson, High Valley, Brett Kissel ft. 98°, MacKenzie Porter, Dallas Smith and Tenille Townes.

“2022 has been an incredible year for country music in Canada and our nominees are definite proof of that,” said Amy Jeninga, President, CCMA. “We are truly looking forward to celebrating their accomplishments later this summer in Calgary. We wouldn’t be able to amplify the success stories of our members without the help of our incredible sponsors — Corus, TD, Ford, Amazon Music & Alexa, SiriusXM and Spotify. Without them, this year’s show wouldn’t be possible and we’re so excited they are joining us to kick off the official countdown to the 2022 CCMA Awards today.”

Leading today’s announcement with seven nominations is Tenille Townes (Amazon Music and Alexa Fans’ Choice Award, Spotify Female Artist of the Year Award, Single of the Year, Ford F-150 Album of the Year Award, Video of the Year, Songwriter(s) of the Year, Entertainer of the Year), followed closely by Jade Eagleson who celebrates the most same-year nominations of his career this year (six — Amazon Music and Alexa Fans’ Choice Award, Male Artist of the Year, Ford F-150 Album of the Year Award, Video of the Year). James Barker Band earned nominations in five 2022 categories (Amazon Music and Alexa Fans’ Choice Award, Single of the Year, Group or Duo of the Year, Interactive Artist(s) of the Year and Entertainer of the Year) while both Dean Brody (Amazon Music and Alexa Fans’ Choice Award, Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Video of the Year) and Brett Kissel (Amazon Music and Alexa Fans’ Choice Award, Single of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Entertainer of the Year) each celebrated four 2022 nominations.

Presented by one of the CCMA’s longest-standing partner, Ford, the 2022 Ford F-150 Album of the Year category will see Don Amero (Nothing Is Meaningless), Gord Bamford (Diamonds In A Whiskey Glass), Jade Eagleson (Honkytonk Revival), Meghan Patrick (Heart On My Glass) and Tenille Townes (Masquerades) compete to take home the crown in one of the night’s most sought-after awards.
Spotify EQUAL has partnered with the CCMA for the first time in 2022, presenting the Spotify Female Artist of the Year category. Spotify’s EQUAL program was created to demonstrate commitment to fostering equity for women in audio and celebrating their global contributions.
