CCMA nominated Canadian country band Nice Horse get goofy this holiday season with the release of their single Ugly Christmas Sweater via Coaltion Music / Warner Music Canada and all streaming services.Layered with the charm, charisma, and humour for which Nice Horse have become so well-known, Ugly Christmas Sweater dives into the shenanigans of the holiday season. Whether it’s “Watching Die Hard with my daddy on the old TV” or seeing “Aunt Sally’s getting lit up like the Christmas tree”, the band paints a picture of a comically chaotic, yet somehow heartwarming festive experience.
You can listen to the song here. “‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’ is about embracing your personal holiday traditions, even if they’re kind of weird or embarrassing, and especially if the people you share them with are completely nuts. The original inspiration for the song was, of course, those amazingly tacky Christmas sweaters that everyone has in the back of their closets, but it ended up morphing into a love song. How wonderful is it when you find someone who loves you for who you are, wacky quirks and all? Now that’s some real “Ugly Christmas Sweater” spirit!” – Nice HorseComprised of Brandi Sidoryk (vocals, bass), Katie Rox (vocals, banjo, acoustic guitar), Krista Wodelet (vocals, drums), Tara McLeod (electric guitar), Nice Horse is the result of four bold women joining forces to create all-girl powerhouse band.
Winners of the CMT Fresh Face Feature Artist and making into the top 3 finalists for Alberta’s prestigious project WILD, the ladies of Nice Horse have shown no hints of slowing down. They’ve performed at such big-time country music festivals as Boots and Hearts, Big Valley Jamboree and Dauphin’s CountryFest, as well as showcasing during other high-profile events such as Roger’s Hometown Hockey, Nashville’s AmericanaFest, JUNO Fest, and during the Canadian Country Music Association’s Country Music Week, and have opened for legendary artists such as Tom Cochrane and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
