A beacon of empowerment and unfiltered, honest emotion, cinematic pop artist, Jacqueline Loor, has announced her upcoming debut album, Show Them, due out on October 1st, 2021. Written for and dedicated to her twin sister, the album takes the listener on a journey through a toxic relationship, with the protagonist ultimately finding their own light and strength to make the difficult decision to leave a dangerous situation.
Album opener, “Coming Undone,” was the first single written for the project and began Jacqueline’s mission to inspire her sister – and other people in unhealthy relationships – to find their inner strength. “That’s the beginning of my sister’s story – this album is for her and about her,” she says. “She was in a toxic relationship. I want people to play it from beginning to end , and let it take them on this journey.” Jacqueline played her sister in the music video, tapping into her own pain of watching the suffering of someone she loved.
The most recent release, “I’m Done With You,” marks the point of no return. “This song is about reaching the point in a relationship where you come to accept that no matter what you do, it will never work. Specifically, it’s about my twin sister and what made her finally leave her partner after many years of being with him,” Jacqueline explains. “He battled depression and substance abuse the entire time they were together, but she always stayed in the hope she could save him until the day she saw that his disease was ultimately putting her children at risk. She finally had a moment of clarity and realized she could never save her husband, but she could save her children.”
Show Them continues to take us on a full tour of emotional wreckage, reclamation, and perseverance. “I want the album to leave people inspired. I hope it helps give them clarity to see what’s going on, not pretend it’s something it’s not, and realize they have the strength to get out of it… and at the end of it, know they’re amazing just the way they are.”
In the interest of showcasing her talents, Jacqueline – a Latina mother of two originally from Miami and now based in Tenerife, Spain – is also in the process of releasing a series of Spanish-language Latin pop songs in-between her album singles. Tracks like “Nunca Te Olvidaré” and “No Me Digas” place her in a fresh, new light that highlights her diverse skill set. The latter was recently featured in the short film, Un Pequeño Corte, part of the LATINXPERIENCE, a PBS Program that was part of their Summer of Aventura 2021 incentive, giving underrepresented Latin X storytellers a chance to tell their stories. That joins a growing list of notable placements in movies and TV shows, including “Burn It Down” in the series, Batwoman.
The many sides of Jacqueline Loor are coming out at once, and the world is better for it. “I love that they’re all real stories,” the artist says, beaming. “If you listen to it, there’s a real person behind each song who actually went through a situation and learned something about themselves, and learned that they’re stronger than they thought they were.”
Jacqueline Loor may have initially made Show Them for her sister, but its relatable themes and universal messages forever exist as a beacon for all who need them. “At the end of the day, it’s about helping other people who are going through hard times,” she says.
