A song all about being playful in the moment and following the feeling, the band’s vibrant new single is accompanied by an official video directed by Kathy Luu. Filmed in Chippendale, Sydney, the visuals offer an electrifying accompaniment that depict the highs and lows of an unpredictable relationship, alongside a darker subplot. As Luu explains:
“I wanted to capture the essence, movements and feelings of love and the passion of being alive — of being children of the hour. We are all main characters in our life movie: wading in so much magic, it sometimes takes loss or time passing for us to realise the beauty and joy we were living. All we can do is be brave, do our best and try and have as much fun as possible while we still can — who knows how and when this movie will end!”
A shimmering slice of synth-laden indie-pop that glints like a glitterball strung amongst the smoke on a hazy dancefloor, “Children of the Hour” was recorded by the band in their base of Sydney. Blending breezy indie-rock with bouncy electropop, the band cite a range of influences fromWolf AliceandMetric,toCannonsandThe Naked & Famous, all of which fed into the DNA of “Children of the Hour”. Produced byXavier Dunnand mixed/mastered byKlaus Hill, the resultant track is a mesmeric cut that sees ardent intimacies erupt into explosive, danceable choruses. As Dande And The Lion vocalistNatassa Zoe adds:
“”Children of the Hour” centres around the push and pull within an intimate relationship: the idea of meeting someone who takes you completely off-guard and shakes up your world in a totally unexpected way. So much so that you start creating excuses to see them and thinking about a future with them. But despite all of those feelings it never quite matches up: for whatever reason you’re both just out of touch.”
