Montserrat House and Eric Hilton, one-half of the pioneering electronic duo Thievery Corporation, are pleased to present his brand new digital single, “Artifact 22.” The first in a series of planned singles that cross different genres, tempos and sounds — “outlier” tracks that don’t exactly fit within Hilton’s typical album-based context — “Artifact 22” is a driving track that aligns itself with those classic and elegant Thievery albums of years past.
And while the A-side of “Artifact 22” is more uptempo than Hilton’s recent solo work, the B-side is a Dub version of the track, slower in tempo, more spacious and reverberant. “After the last two years of struggles we’ve all been through,” Hilton says, “it just feels right to start 2022 and this series of singles with this mantra: All we want on Earth is love.” Stream “Artifact 22” on all platforms HERE.
In 2020, after 25 years with Thievery, Hilton released his very first ever solo album titled Infinite Everywhere and co-produced a critically acclaimed Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson reggae tribute album that was praised by the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, The Associated Press, The New York Times and many more. Since then he’s released two more solo albums — The Impossible Silence in 2020 and Ceremony in 2021 — and is about to have an even more productive year with “Artifact 22” launching his 2022. Stay tuned for more music from Hilton throughout the year.
