Photos and review by Amanda Daubert – The Glorious Sons had an incredible week. They released their fourth studio album Glory to rave reviews. They kicked off their 57 city North American Tour playing shows in Pittsburgh, Newport, Atlanta, Charleston, Nashville and Washington, DC. They entered a new era of the band with the insanely talented and graciously humble Steve Kirstein manning stage left…and they are just getting started!

With all of this happening at once, to say it was an effort is an understatement. The time, energy, love and passion that was put into this album can be heard on every track. The countless hours of rehearsals, with Kirstein joining on guitar just 2 weeks prior to the tour, needing to learn a 50 song catalog, the band was burning the candle at both ends. Night one of the tour wasn’t their best performance, and they knew it. The band rallied, came together as a family, and made some needed changes. Then night two they came out swinging and never looked back.

With this new tour the band is also making a fantastic effort to connect as much as possible with their fans, truly bringing them some unforgettable experiences. Fans have the option of selecting a ticket that includes a pre-show acoustic performance, allowing you to hear some of their new songs and old favorites with a beautiful and raw delivery. They can even go one step further and enjoy a pre-show stage tour giving them the opportunity to talk with members of the band and crew, get an up-close look at the instruments and equipment, and if you’re lucky you can even try your hand…or foot at Packers kick-drum. Both of these amazing experiences also come with special merch items that you can’t get anywhere else!

Speaking of fans, the loyal fans of The Glorious Sons, affectionately referred to as Amigos, have been making their way from distances near and far to support the band with their album release and tour. Waiting in line outside of the venues typically turns into mini reunions of fans that have watched this band grow beyond just their years together. This incredible support, and true family feel, are just some of the reasons why this band, and their fanbase, is so special.

In full stride Wednesday night they capped off their amazing first week at the iconic 9:30 Club, The Glorious Sons showed that they are just setting the pace for this marathon tour. The night kicked off in high gear right out of the gates with “A Funny Thing Happened,” “Panic Attack” and “The Ongoing Speculation Into the Death of Rock and Roll.” Then, from old to new, fans were treated to a Sons classic with “Mama” and the first single off their new record “Mercy Mercy.” Main set highlights also included “My Poor Heart” and “Sawed Off Shotgun.”

When asked by lead singer Brett Emmons, “How ya’ doing now?” a question as common as any song in their set list, the DC crowd was not shy about showing their love and appreciation for this amazing band! They finished the night with a renewed classic in “Heavy,” a crowd encouraged “Happy Birthday” serenade to Brett, as it was his birthday, ending with a powerful performance of “Amigo.” It was truly an incredible show from start to finish.

Be sure to grab your tickets to The Glory Tour now through February 2024 to catch a glimpse of this magic for yourself!
