“Won’t Be Long” is the hopeful summer anthem energy we could all use more of right now. It’s a song of hope and faith and perseverance, and it’s available to stream on your favourite platform. Produced by Brian Moncarz (Our Lady Peace, Alice Cooper, The Tea Party) and accompanied by Our Lady Peace bassist Duncan Coutts & drummer Jason Pierce, we wrote “Won’t Be Long” back in Jan 2020 as a pep talk to ourselves and to anyone facing an uphill battle in pursuit of a dream.
Now, over a year into a pandemic that has redefined every single aspect of their lives, “Won’t Be Long” has taken on a new meaning and urgency – no more quarantunes about being locked down and lonely, no: this is a song about the light at the end of the tunnel that’s getting closer every day!
This song also marks the 10th anniversary of their first show as a band, at Rancho Relaxo in Toronto – a perfect time to reflect on how far we have come and start the next chapter in our story and sound.
Sometimes it feels like nothing ever changes
Like we’re wasting time
But this is time worth wasting.
When you’re fighting for what you believe in with all that you’ve got, it can sometimes feel like it’s pointless, like history will repeat forever and ever. But it’s never a waste of time if it’s fuelled by your heart and soul – and if we’ve learned anything over the last year, it’s that we CAN create change in our lives and the world around us.
Hope you’ve been staying safe and sane, and that whatever you’ve been waiting, working, or fighting for – it won’t be long.
