Nessa P is a multi-talented musician with a background as varied as her sound. With a minor in music from Bethany University, she’s no stranger to the academic side of her craft. Her musical journey has been enriched by living with professional musicians, contributing to live shows on multiple instruments. After a stint with her band Jezabel and drummer Melanie Verrico, Nessa embarked on a solo project, releasing singles like “FEEL,” “LIFE,” and “Space Parade” in 2023. These works indicate her shift from rock to an EDM-focused sound. She also owns Órale Audio studio, where she produces music for other artists.
What’s the best show you’ve ever played?
My best show as Nessa P was my second time being booked at SecondPhase Brewery, I had a lot of people show up and support me.
What’s the worst show you’ve ever played?
My first ever time singing in public, I was a kid, I was singing in public and when I forgot the words I’d smack myself in the head, I think that’s a testament of what this means to me, what it has always meant to me, I am very serious about music, and wanting to be known for doing it well.
Is there a city or venue that holds special significance to you, and can you share a memorable experience from there?
Are we talking about me performing? I had a lot of fun playing all around the bay area when I was in the band Jezabell. I am just getting started as Nessa P. I’m so thankful to have a team behind me pushing to get me out of the studio and into some live performance situations.
As a fan, I am in love with the Midway, in San Francisco. I have a goal to play the MW one day, in any capacity. I have seen so many amazing EDM acts there. The community that they have built is extraordinary, and it is magnetic. I have never had a bad time there. I wish I had infinite funds to just take in every show they offer.
What’s the highlight of the tour so far?
I am actually planning a tour stay tuned! Summer Tour 2024
What was the highlight of the last tour you went on?
I’ve only done one off shows, I’ve enjoyed playing some local Festivals, Like Fest Fest 3 & 4, and some nice paying gigs!
Can you recount an onstage experience that was unexpectedly risky or exhilarating?
I can’t say that I have, but I have performed in over 100 degree weather that is really really hard. I think every time I am on stage it is exhilarating, I am being asked to show off my skills and catalog, it’s always a blessing to get those chances in life.
What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened at one of your shows?
I have to say I was playing a show and I saw my brother walking in with this contraption, spraying alcohol into strangers mouths, milfs, old guys, young girls, whatever. He was always the cool one, so he was sort of upstaging me at that point, and I am used to it by now, he’s just literally that cool, he oozes cool. I hadn’t seen him in a while, he lives in LA so, it was so heartwarming to see him walk through the doors, but to walk through the doors and be so unmistakably him was hilarious, because the next thing that happened was that they were gonna kick him out, and rightfully so, for bringing in outside alcohol, but I saved him “that’s my brother, I’ll make sure he’s cool,” love that guy to the moon and back. But those women, they were just all about it. It was a packed house that night and it was just an overall great night for music!
Who would you be most amazed to see in the front row at one of your shows?
Whoever shows up, I am here for them. I’m thankful for everyone who supports me and enjoys my music. I don’t like getting caught up in
How do you handle the pressures of performance, and have your strategies evolved over time?
Practice, that’s all that matters is practicing, They say that’s how you get to Carnegie Hall anyway!
Do you have any rituals before you hit the stage? If so, what are they?
Practice for days on end, If I do not practice I will totally suck up there, but I am really great at going on stage and I couldn’t care how many people there are out there. I also do not drink before playing at all, if I have a beer during, I never drink more than half of it, I get high off the experience
