Throughout their new 5-song EP, “Karma”, Canadian rockers Sierra Pilot seamlessly bridges the gap between grunge, metalcore, industrial, and pop elements, showcasing their versatility and knack for pushing musical boundaries. The tracks on “Karma” exude a greasy, obnoxious charm that is distinctly Sierra Pilot, making it a must-listen for fans of authentic, unapologetic rock music.
Drawing from a diverse pool of influences ranging from Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails to Three Days Grace and Metalcore bands of yesteryears, this EP represents a culmination of the band’s evolution into their true, authentic sound.
You recently wrapped up your first major tour in Western Canada with Skid Row and Buckcherry. What can you tell us about the tour? Is there one memory of the tour that sticks out for you?
The Gangs All Here tour was an absolute dream! There were a lot of moments on the run, but my personal favourite was looking over and seeing some of the members of Skid Row watching us and digging what we were doing. It felt incredible!
What were you most surprised by on the tour? And what was one thing you learned on this tour?
I think we were most surprised by the amount of support and love we got from the fans! So many people came up to chat with us at our merch table after the show. We sold probably five times the amount of merch on the tour than we thought we would. Totally unexpected and appreciated.
You’ve just kicked off a US/Canada tour with Pop Evil. What are you most looking forward to on this tour?
Honestly, we’re feeling super excited and privileged that we’ve been invited to play some US shows. It’s our first time in the US and so far, it’s been amazing. We are super stoked for Lobster rolls in Maine!
Your new EP, “KARMA” just dropped. How does this release differ from your album “Phantom Pains” which was released last year?
KARMA is the most honest we’ve been on a record so far. I’ve opened up about some dark things in my life that I haven’t shed much light on in past songs. The sound is super raw and hard-hitting. Our producer, Brian Moncarz, really helped us define a sound that I’ve been striving for since I started the band.
What’s next for Sierra Pilot?
We want to spend as much time on the road as we can. Touring has really lit a fire under our feet. We are also writing again for a new album that will likely come out in early 2025. Not sure what’s next, but whatever it is, just know we’re putting 150% into it.
