Based in Penticton, British Columbia, Chayce was inspired to pursue music after seeing Taylor Swift live in concert. Now a prolific emerging artist and live performer in her own right – with five past singles and over 100 live shows since 2021 – Chayce brought her next slate of songs to past collaborator Stewart and Critchlow, a mentor since childhood. After three new songs were recorded, she added Grammy-nominated Brian West (Nelly Furtado, Maroon 5) to the mix and emerged with two more tracks to complete the EP. Overall, the collective support for Chayce from diverse sectors of the entertainment industry has only strengthened her confidence to reach new highs in a career that is quickly blossoming.

Chayce’s new music promises to offer more personal themes by touching on her own experiences with love, heartbreak, mental health, and body image. “Mr. Super Fine” explores the first of these with pure bliss and optimism, which she believes listeners can apply to their own lives as well.

What inspired you to pursue a career in music and what makes you stand out from other artists in the genre?

Taylor Swift inspired me to pursue a music career. I went to her “1989” tour with my mom when I was younger and the whole experience of her concert was surreal. The way she interacted with the audience and how everyone went wild – it was so inspirational how one person can have such a huge positive impact on so many people.

I write all of my own music and I think that helps me stand out in pop. My songs are based on personal experiences and struggles that people can relate with.

Can you tell us about your creative process in creating Mr Super Fine and how you bring your unique perspective and experiences into your music?

My process in writing “Mr. Super Fine” was very spontaneous. I was sitting at my piano playing around with different chords when I came up for the first line of the song “are your eyes blue or green tonight?”, and then from that moment, I couldn’t get up from my piano until the story was written. I was inspired by my personal experiences with “love”. Meeting new people, first dates and the excitement that a new possibility brings.

I love to write about moments in my life that I have either struggled with, learnt from, or moments that are just exciting and fun!

In a highly competitive industry, how do you handle the pressures of being an emerging artist and what strategies do you use to stay authentic to yourself and your music?

I always make sure to remind myself why I do music.Yes, there are struggles along the way in such a competitive industry, and it can be discouraging sometimes, but I cannot imagine my life without music.

Are there any specific messages or themes that you strive to convey through your songs, and how do you connect with your audience through your music?

My main themes I seem to write about are mental health, body image, struggles, love, and the difficulties with love. I think most of these things are very relatable, so when I bring vulnerability into my songs, this can help others connect if they have felt the same way before.

What do you envision for your future as an artist and what are your goals in terms of reaching a wider audience and making a lasting impact through your music?

For my future as an artist, I envision continuing to work hard everyday and putting my heart and soul into my music. My goals in terms of reaching a wider audience and making a lasting impact through my music are to post good content regularly on social media. Continuing to release and record authentic music. Playing LOTS of shows! Growing my team and finding a music manager!
