Joining forces with Montreal’s indie queen, Marie-Pierre Arthur, LES SHIRLEY began working on their second full-length in early 2022. Today, the Montreal-based alt-rockers announce the release of their sophomore full-length, More Is More. Redefining the genre and connecting the dots between 90’s grunge and 2000’s punk rock culture, Les Shirley are ready to take on the world. Along with the exciting album announcement, the trio also shares a brand new, singalong heartbreak anthem, “Nothing Compares”. Listen to the single HERE and watch the accompanying music video HERE! More Is More, out October 28th.
With its heavy grunge-driven guitar riffs, “Nothing Compares” is an anthem for heartbreak. You can’t help but slowly headbang and sing along to its powerful catchy chorus. It is the overwhelming feeling that you’ll never get back what you’ve lost. When you find yourself in a different place, a cycle ends but you’re not over it yet. It’s that in-between state where you still love and care for someone but you must let go,” explains Raphaëlle Chouinard (vocals, guitar).
Earlier this year, the band released the first single off of More is More, titled “Random Call“. Inspired by wild summer nights and short-lived love interests, the single saw support from Sirius XM The Verge, Stingray, Montreal Rocks, Le Canal Auditif, Tabernak, Ici Musique, Alan Cross, CHOM 97.7, X929 Calgary, and XReddeer to name a few. Along with the impressive support from media on the single, the band also embarked on their first-ever European tour, and an Ontario tour this past Spring. The tour dates received coverage from V13 Media, Quench Magazine, Montreal Guardian, Soft Sound Press and an Instagram Takeover via Toronto’s Spill Magazine.

MORE ABOUT LES SHIRLEY:
Les Shirley is a kick-ass all-female rock power trio formed in Montreal in late 2018. Raphaëlle Chouinard (vocals, guitar), Lisandre Bourdages (drums) and Sarah Dion (bass) were brought together by a strong desire to make the music they’d always wanted to hear as their life’s playlist, fueled by their unique friendship. Their musical style takes inspiration from acts ranging from HAIM to Céline Dion. It’s just the right dose of nostalgia mixed with a breath of fresh air, something that definitely stands out. The girls are solid musicians with a flair for flaming hot melodies and bursting riffs.
In May 2021 Les Shirley released their debut album Forever Is Now. Shaped by their punk rock teenage years and having been inspired by various artists ranging from HAIM to Celine Dion, the album’s perception in their home province was out of this world! The group took home three awards for Best New Artist and Rock EP of the Year at GAMIQ and the album title track hit Top 40 at Active Rock Radio in Canada. As well, it saw support from some of Canada’s top media outlets such as Journal de Montréal, La Presse, Le Devoir, Le Soleil, Radio-Canada, Exclaim! and radio stations such as CHOM 97.7, TSN, BLVD, George Strombo, Sirius XM The Verge and more!
