Photos by Orest Dorosh – David Byrne, the legendary Talking Heads frontman and boundary-pushing creative mind, is back on the road in 2025 with his new Who Is the Sky? tour — a dazzling live experience that blurs the lines between concert, theater, and art installation. Supporting his first solo album in seven years, Byrne’s latest production features a 13-member ensemble of musicians, singers, and dancers, each free to move around the stage in a fluid, choreographed performance that feels as much like modern dance as it does pop spectacle. The tour, which kicked off in Providence in September, is earning rave reviews for its seamless blend of art-pop experimentation, world rhythms, and thought-provoking visuals.

When Byrne brought Who Is the Sky? to Toronto’s Massey Hall, fans were treated to a uniquely immersive experience that reimagined what a live show can be. The setlist balanced new material — including the reflective single “Everybody Laughs” — with inventive reworks of Talking Heads classics like “Once in a Lifetime” and “This Must Be the Place” Byrne’s trademark wit and warmth shone through as he spoke about the album’s themes of identity and perception, often accompanied by hypnotic projections and lighting that seemed to move with the band. It was a night that reminded Toronto audiences why Byrne remains one of the most visionary and unpredictable artists in modern music.
