Heading into the final months of 2020, Canada’s MacKenzie Porter is looking back on an activity-filled year of #1 songs and breaking historical records. Today, the breakout country-pop star releases her next single, “Drinkin’ Songs,” which follows her historic three back-to-back country #1s, and last week’s crossover Top 10, with “These Days (Remix)”.

Written by Lucas Nord and Big Loud Publishing writer Griffen Palmer plus produced by Joey Moi with co-production by Jacob Durrett, “Drinkin’ Songs” channels the transporting moment of hearing the soundtrack to an old relationship post breakup. Reminiscing on everything the verses and choruses used to represent, Porter belts the upbeat anthem as a celebration of getting over him, listening to the addictive tune over and over with changed significance as its now just another one of her “drinkin’ songs.”

“You know when you’re dating someone, and you have ‘your song.’ The one you pick together to be the theme song of your relationship…. the one where every lyric seems to be singing about your love…. this is about THAT song…. after you breakup,” shares Porter. “It’s the one that now magically seems to come on the radio every single time you get into the car just to remind you what was once yours. The song that used to make you feel so secure and whole – but now it’s just another one of your drinkin’ songs.”

This evening, Porter will headline the virtual stage for SiriusXM’s Top of the Country Showcase during Country Music Week 2020. Fans can tune in — for free — to hear the first live performance of “Drinkin’ Songs” on the CCMA YouTube channel between 9pm – 11pm ET tonight.

Porter’s “mesmerizing vocals and hook-driven songs” (Billboard) have sparked a list of headline-worthy accolades for the Alberta-native since making her return to music in late 2018.

Porter is currently the #1 most played Canadian artist (all genre), as per this week’s Billboard Canada’s All-Format & Top 50 Canadian airplay charts. The re-imagined pop version of her country #1, “These Days (Remix)”, also hit the Top 10 last week on the Mediabase Top 40 Airplay chart, making Porter the first Canadian country artist to land a crossover Top 10 since 2003, when Shania Twain’s “Up” earned the same recognition.

Earlier this summer, the 3x 2020 CCMA Award nominee scored a historic ‘three-peat’, as her single “Seeing Other People” became her third consecutive country #1. The track’s remarkable success made Porter the second Canadian female in history to have three consecutive country #1s, another record previously held by Shania Twain (1998).

Porter’s catalogue has amassed 80 Million streams, and her tracks have held spots on the largest streaming playlists around the world such as Hot Country (Spotify), Today’s Hits, A-List Pop (Apple), Fresh Pop, Hot Singles (Amazon), and Hot Hits Canada (Spotify).
