Rising Canadian singer/songwriter Maddisun is thrilled to announce the release of her sophomore album, “Home Is Where The Music Is” – which arrives on all digital streaming platforms on August 26th.
A ten-track record written entirely by the artist and produced by the Los Angeles-based PSY Sound team of Nick Noto and Chloe Chaidez, “Home Is Where The Music Is” stays true to Maddisun’s organic singer/songwriter roots but adds touches of Americana, indie pop, along with classic, vintage, and country rock to match her eclectic musical influences and artistic range.
Maddisun says, “The thematic heart of this album is being at home in your mind and body. For me, the concept of “home” has become fuzzy as I’ve traveled outside and grown inside. When I lean into my music and connect to my art, I’m truly at home, no matter where in the world I am. This record reflects the moments, emotions, resilience, and awakenings in my journey.”
“Home Is Where The Music Is” marks the latest milestone for the Cranbook, British Columbia native in an inspiring odyssey that sent the budding artist to Europe for 3 years to immerse herself in music – primarily in Ireland – and led to her 2020 debut album, “Self Reflections”, which earned over 200,000 Spotify streams. The road to bring “Home” to life has also included three additional single releases, a social media shout-out from the iconic Nancy Wilson (Heart) for Maddisun’s cover of “Magic Man”, and a performance in Toronto at NXNE Fest 2022.
Beyond the empowering anthem “Don’t Say No” – which arrived as the album’s lead single earlier this year – the record also features the aptly-titled heartwarmer “Home”, the bold and exuberant “Running”, the mental health-minded “Fading”, the freedom-chasing “Big Wave”, the legacy-driven “Too Long”, the serendipitous and reflective “On the Outside”, the self-love infused “True Me”, the confident and strong “Right”, and the inspirational “Glory Day (Over and Over)”.
Maddisun says, “As an artist, you have to want discovery and recognition more than blood, and I do. These songs are about being yourself and expressing that to the universe, taking chances, wearing your heart on your sleeve, and being fearless. That’s home. That’s where my music is.”
Maddisun will support the album release with an official music video for “Running” along with several live shows – including Vancouver (September 3rd), a hometown album release show in Cranbrook (September 9th), and Nelson (September 10th).
