Mayfly. A symbol of all that is ephemeral. An incarnation reminding us of the importance of living while remaining in tune with our emotions and experiences. The female duo of Charlie and Emma has a name and advocate for an art form that inspires one to seize the moment and follow the instinct. After the release of four singles in 2022 – “BLACK WATER”,”PASSENGER SEAT”, “PRETTY ENDING” and “ALL DREAMS FADE”-Mayfly presents HIDEAWAY Vol.I, a massive seven track EP on the Canadian label Duprince.
These two singer-songwriters in their early twenties are Montreal-based. They self produced and unfold captivating music that allow the listeners to escape into another reality. They also bring a strong multidimensional vision to their project, wrapping their songs in a fascinating visual aesthetic. They collaborated with Adrian Villagomez (Denzel Curry, Apashe, Jean-Michel Blais…) for the realization of the videos accompanying BLACK WATER, PASSENGER SEAT and ALL DREAMS FADE.
Their first EP, ESSENCE (2021), has bewitched their audiences with its melancholy and vulnerable musical universe, wonderfully carried by the union of their voices. With HIDEAWAY Vol.I, the duo leaves their chrysalis for a darker sound, with electro-pop tones and magnetic arrangements. Charlie and Emma remain faithful to the sensibility that runs through their hypnotic voices, this time taking us deeper into the dreamworld, marrying raw and organic textures with danceable and liberating rhythms. An intoxicating contrast between the delicate and the obscurity.
