Nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2022 JUNO Awards, Toronto-based MONOWHALES have put a new lease on the alt rock genre and established themselves as one of the most exciting new bands in Canada. With multiple Top 10 singles, millions of streams, and countless shows played across the country (including support slots for K.Flay, DFA 1979, Sloan, and Marianas Trench), MONOWHALES have earned a special place in the hearts and minds of fans.
Produced by Dave Schiffman (Vampire Weekend, PUP), “New Threads” is the latest single to drop from their forthcoming album, Tunnel Vision.
“This is MONOWHALES bedroom pop at its finest,” declares guitarist Zach Zanardo, with vocalist Sally Shaar stating, “this song is centered around coming of age but not as a teenager — as an adult in your 20s.” Drummer Jordan Circosta elaborates, “it’s about reaching a new level of maturity and knowledge of self.” Sally concludes, “‘New Threads’ is a reminder to try and take it easy when I start to be too hard on myself.”
