Acclaimed singer-songwriter and multiple JUNO Award nominee Shawnee Kish lays bare her fearless resolve with the release of her EP Pray For Me, out today. An introspective collection shaped by lived experience, Pray For Me explores themes of love, faith, and self-preservation, offering a poignant reflection on the complexities of belief and identity, and their influence on both personal choices and the actions of others.
Lead single “Dear God” is a powerful anthem, “courageously questioning traditional religious boundaries and embracing the transformative power of love in all its beautiful forms,” shares Kish. “It reminds us that love, in its essence, is pure and uplifting, never toxic.” Pray For Me also features “What Do You Want From Me,” a raw exploration of the emotional toll of being someone else’s savior, and “Put Your Weapons Down,” a stirring call to reject the weaponization of faith in the name of hate.
2024 was a transformative year for Kish as she embraced her new role as a first-time mom alongside her partner, Olympic bronze medalist Jen Kish, and was named one of TikTok’s 2024 Indigenous Visionary Voices—channeling her experiences into her music. Through a bold and uncompromising body of work, she has consistently challenged expectations, reclaimed her narrative, and amplified underrepresented voices with raw honesty and unwavering strength. Now, with Pray For Me, Kish delivers her most courageous project yet, as thought-provoking as it is soul-stirring.

Kish’s 2023 release Revolution earned her two nominations at the 2024 JUNO Awards, including Adult Alternative Album of the Year and her second nod in Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year.
