Photos by Sharon Steele – One of the city’s most beloved summer traditions returned this July, as the Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF) brought global rhythms, local talent, and thousands of music lovers back to Jericho Beach Park from July 18–20, 2025.

Now in its 46th year, the festival will feature over 40 acts from around the world, offering a rich mix of folk, roots, blues, global fusion, and Indigenous storytelling. Headliners include The Zawose Queens (Tanzania), Les Mamans du Congo x Rrobin (Congo/France), Bab L’Bluz (Morocco/France), Shooglenifty (Scotland), and Canadian favourites like Margaret Glaspy, Watchhouse, Ruthie Foster, Elisapie, and Julian Taylor.

The festival’s signature blend of main stage shows, intimate workshops, and genre-crossing jam sessions was complemented by artisan markets, global food vendors, a kids’ village, and a free pre-festival concert.

Set against the scenic backdrop of Jericho Beach with the mountains beyond, VFMF remains a West Coast cultural cornerstone—celebrating community, creativity, and the power of live music under the summer sun.
