The name “Arkells” comes from Arkell Street, the road where the band’s founding members lived while attending McMaster University. The original lineup consisted of Max Kerman (vocals and guitar), Mike DeAngelis (guitar), Nick Dika (bass), and Tim Oxford (drums). Over the years, they’ve been recognized for their infectious, crowd-pleasing performances and have built a devoted fan base across Canada and beyond.
Their breakthrough came with the release of Jackson Square (2008), which was followed by the highly successful Michigan Left (2011) and High Noon (2014). The band’s 2016 album, Morning Report, showcased their continued evolution with a more polished, radio-friendly sound. Arkells’ music often addresses themes of social consciousness, community, and personal growth, while also celebrating the joys of life and love.
