Photos by Joanna Gleason – Founded in 1987, The Boston Music Awards is an annual set of awards that showcases the exceptional musical talent in the Massachusetts area. It’s an homage to the past year, as well as an insight into the future direction of music in Boston.
So much more than an awards show. With music programs and live events throughout the year, the Boston Music Awards’ mission is to celebrate, support, and bring the community together through music.
Per tradition, the annual awards show has tapped several nominees to perform at the December 20 event, which will take over Big Night Live for the second consecutive year. The selected acts for 2023 are Shallow Pools, Neemz (pictured above), Nay $peaks, Maeko, Divine Sweater, Clark D, and Cape Crush, offering quick transitions between the scene’s celebrated indie rock, emo, hip-hop, and R&B.
