Photos by Brad Goldstein – City and Colour is the solo project of Canadian musician Dallas Green. Born on September 29, 1980, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Green began his musical career as the lead vocalist and guitarist for the post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. However, in 2005, he decided to embark on a solo journey and started releasing music under the moniker City and Colour.
Known for his soulful and introspective folk-rock sound, City and Colour quickly gained a devoted fanbase with the release of their debut album, “Sometimes,” in 2005. The album showcased Green’s heartfelt songwriting and his ability to convey emotional depth through his music.
Over the years, City and Colour continued to release critically acclaimed albums, including “Bring Me Your Love” (2008), “Little Hell” (2011), and “If I Should Go Before You” (2015). Their music often explores themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, striking a chord with listeners around the world.
City and Colour’s live performances are known for their intimate and captivating nature, with Green’s powerful vocals and engaging stage presence captivating audiences. Their songs have garnered widespread acclaim, earning numerous awards and nominations, including multiple Juno Awards in Canada.
Throughout his career, Dallas Green has collaborated with several other artists, including P!nk, who he worked with on the song “You + Me” in 2014. Despite these collaborations, City and Colour remains primarily Green’s solo project, allowing him to explore his musical vision and connect with fans on a personal level through his heartfelt lyrics and soulful melodies.
Today, City and Colour continues to release music and tour internationally, further solidifying their reputation as one of Canada’s most respected and beloved musical acts.
