Photos by Orest Dorosh – Kandle, born Kandle Maria Osborne on October 14, 1990, in Victoria, British Columbia, is a Canadian singer-songwriter renowned for her evocative vocals and genre-blending sound that fuses indie rock, swamp rock, folk rock, and pop noir.She is the daughter of Neil Osborne, lead singer of the Canadian rock band 54-40. In 2012, Kandle relocated to Montréal, Québec, where she formed The Krooks with her musical partner Sam Goldberg Jr., further establishing her presence in the Canadian music scene. ​

Kandle’s musical career is marked by critical acclaim and notable collaborations. Her 2014 debut album, In Flames, earned her a Juno Award nomination and the Prism Prize Audience Award in 2015. She has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, and North America, sharing stages with artists such as Lou Doillon and Cœur de pirate. Beyond her solo work, Kandle has collaborated with prominent acts including Jack White, Half Moon Run, and July Talk. In 2021, she released her third studio album, Set the Fire, continuing to showcase her evolution as an artist.
