Photos by Scott Mayberry – KISS is an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973. The group was initially comprised of bassist Gene Simmons, rhythm guitarist Paul Stanley, lead guitarist Ace Frehley, and drummer Peter Criss. Known for their elaborate live performances, which include fire breathing, blood-spitting, and pyrotechnics, KISS quickly gained a loyal fanbase.
Throughout their career, KISS has released a string of successful albums, including “Destroyer” (1976), “Rock and Roll Over” (1976), and “Love Gun” (1977). They are best known for their iconic hits such as “Rock and Roll All Nite”, “Detroit Rock City”, and “I Was Made for Lovin’ You”.
Over the years, KISS has undergone several lineup changes, with various members leaving and being replaced. The band’s original lineup reunited in 1996 for a successful reunion tour that lasted until 2001. In 2002, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inducted the original members of KISS.
In recent years, KISS has continued to tour and release new music. They embarked on their “End of the Road World Tour” in 2019, intended to be their final tour as a band. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour has been postponed to 2021.
KISS has left an indelible mark on the rock music scene with their flamboyant personas, catchy songs, and extravagant stage shows. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and remain one of the most influential bands in rock history.
