Photos by Brad Goldstein – Odesza is an electronic music duo consisting of members Harrison Mills (also known as CatacombKid) and Clayton Knight (also known as BeachesBeaches). Formed in 2012, the duo quickly gained popularity for their unique blend of electronic and indie-pop sounds.
Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight met while attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Their shared interest in music production led them to collaborate on various projects before officially forming Odesza. The name “Odesza” is a tribute to Mills’ uncle, who passed away during the duo’s early days.
Odesza released their debut album “Summer’s Gone” in 2012, which garnered attention for its dreamy, emotive soundscapes and intricate production. The album received positive reviews and established Odesza as a promising new act in the electronic music scene.
Their sophomore album, “In Return,” released in 2014, propelled Odesza to even greater success. The album featured hits like “Say My Name” and “Sun Models,” both of which received significant radio play and chart success. “In Return” was praised for its infectious melodies and the duo’s ability to seamlessly blend electronic elements with live instrumentation.
Odesza’s third album, “A Moment Apart,” was released in 2017 and further solidified their position as leading figures in the electronic music world. The album showcased their evolving sound, incorporating elements of pop and R&B while still maintaining their signature ethereal vibe. It featured collaborations with artists like Leon Bridges and Regina Spektor, further expanding the duo’s musical horizons.
