Photos Orest Dorosh – Sarah McLachlan is a Canadian singer-songwriter, born on January 28, 1968, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She began playing the guitar at age 17 and formed her first band at age 19. McLachlan’s first album, “Touch,” was released in 1988, followed by her breakthrough album, “Solace,” in 1991. She gained international fame with the release of her hit song “Building a Mystery” in 1997. McLachlan has won numerous awards including three Grammy Awards. She has also founded the Lilith Fair tour which celebrates and empowers female musicians. Sarah McLachlan is known for her emotive and soulful voice and her ability to connect with her audience through her music.
