Photos by Joanna Gleason – The Arkells are a Canadian rock band from Hamilton, Ontario. The band was formed in 2006 and consists of lead vocalist Max Kerman, guitarist Mike DeAngelis, bassist Nick Dika, drummer Tim Oxford, and keyboardist Anthony Carone.
They gained attention with their debut album, “Jackson Square,” released in 2008, which featured the hit single “Oh, the Boss is Coming!” The album was nominated for a Juno Award for Best New Group and established the band’s energetic and anthemic sound.
The Arkells continued to find success with their subsequent albums, including “Michigan Left” (2011) and “High Noon” (2014), which both reached the top 5 on the Canadian album charts. They became known for their infectious and catchy songs, often incorporating elements of pop, rock, and soul into their music.
In 2016, the band released their fourth album, “Morning Report,” which featured the chart-topping single “Knocking at the Door.” The song became a massive hit in Canada and earned the band multiple awards, including the Juno Award for Single of the Year.
Known for their high-energy live performances, The Arkells have toured extensively and have become a staple of the Canadian music scene. They have won multiple Juno Awards and have been nominated for other prestigious awards, including the Polaris Music Prize.
