Photos by Kyle McNeil – On November 1st 2023, local Toronto rock band THE BEACHES played the first of two back to back shows in their hometown of Toronto. The pair of shows would be a sort of homecoming for the band as the group has been on their “Blame My Ex” tour for most of the year. The Beaches have been performing their new album by the same name all across North America but have finally arived back in Toronto to play the historic Massey Hall. There have been a few different supporting acts on this tour but on this night we would see the rock group Beach Weather take the stage for the opening effort to warm up the crowd.
Beach Weather is an American pop-rock group and seems to present an image of a vintage four peice band. Their stage set was dressed with flowers and some groovy carpet in the center. They took to the stage to the intro track of “California Dreaming” by the Momas & the Popas circa the 1960’s. This group is also promoting a new album and played a live performance earlier in the day at the sugar beach Corus studio on the lakeshore. The Beaches would hit the stage at Massey Hall and bring the high energy type of performance everyone in attendance expected. The set list consisted of 20 songs in total which included a three song encoure. Their latest and greatest chart topping song “Blame Brett” was of course included in the set but was also stencyled onto the bass drum in clear veiw. After concluding the second show in Toronto on Thursday night the band will travel westwerd across Canada and play more dates across the country.
