Photos by Orest Dorosh – Wilco is an American alternative rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois in 1994. The band was originally formed by former Uncle Tupelo members Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, and Ken Coomer, along with Max Johnston, Jay Bennett, and Bob Egan. The band’s current lineup consists of Jeff Tweedy (vocals, guitar), John Stirratt (bass, vocals), Glenn Kotche (drums), Mikael Jorgensen (keyboards), Nels Cline (guitar), and Pat Sansone (multi-instrumentalist).

Wilco’s music has been described as a blend of alternative rock, country, folk, and experimental music. The band gained critical acclaim with their 1999 album “Summerteeth”, which featured hits like “A Shot in the Arm” and “Via Chicago”. They continued to receive critical praise with albums like “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” (2002) and “A Ghost Is Born” (2004).

In addition to their studio albums, Wilco is known for their energetic live performances and extensive touring schedule. They have also collaborated with other artists, such as Billy Bragg on the “Mermaid Avenue” series, which set previously unrecorded lyrics by Woody Guthrie to music.

Wilco has won multiple Grammy Awards and continues to be a respected and influential band in the alternative rock scene.
