EXCLUSIVE Norway-born country singer-songwriter Daniel Borge is gearing up to release a new single, “Time.” Produced by Grammy award-winning producer Brad Hill (Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne, Brett Young), the single will be available on all streaming platforms on May 28. Written by Borge and Davis Branch, “Time” tells a thought-provoking and relatable story of a narrator experiencing regret and wanting to go back in time. Borge and Branch put a clever spin on the concept, personifying “time” as a man that the narrator wishes he could reason with to turn the back the clock.  With lyrics like “If only time was a man, you could talk to about his hands. I’d move those hands back before goodbye, back to when everything was right. I heard they say, and I believe, that time can heal everything. He could change the speed of the falling sand if time were a man,”the song captures the gut-wrenching feeling of being unable to change the past.

“I was in the middle of financial and emotional struggles because of COVID-19, and I couldn’t see a way out. There is so much honesty and emotion in this song. Because we recorded the song during a challenging time, we were able to capture that emotion. With other songs that I’ve written, I wrote them after the fact or wrote the song about friends or people in a situation that I felt like I could write a song about.  I’ve never written and recorded a song in the middle of an experience like this. I do feel like this song is so relatable.”

The mid-tempo country track features modern, radio-ready production as well as a melody that evokes nostalgia. “Time” also highlights Borge’s rich voice and ability to convey emotions with his vocal delivery. Borge said his feelings about this past year inspired him to write the song with Branch. He explained, “I believe the lyrics are especially relatable because of the pandemic. We´ve all had a lot of extra time to think and reflect on life and the choices we’ve made in the past. I actually wrote the song after a real-life experience of mine – it happened exactly as the lyrics describe. Life hit me pretty hard because of the pandemic, and I actually stopped my car at the side of the road, wishing so badly that time was a man I could talk to about this past year. I want the fans to know that they are not alone in their struggles with the pandemic. I hope they recognize the honesty and feel my emotions through the song.”

“Time” follows Borge’s previous singles, “There I Was” and “Room 208,” all three of which Borge plans to include in his upcoming album, due out later this year. Borge’s recent music comes on the heels of streaming success. The independent artist garnered over 325,000 total streams on Spotify with previous releases.

Daniel Borge got his start in Nashville, Tenn. when he was pulled onstage to perform at Legends Corner on Broadway during CMA Fest 2019.
