Ontario-based alternative artist John Maksym, previous frontman of nationally acclaimed rock band Breaching Vista, will be releasing his highly anticipated Grease meets Back To The Future influenced sound and music video for his upbeat pop/rock single, “New Vibration” on June 28th 2021. In John’s fulfilling music career, he has honed his talents at songwriting, singing, and performing, through the experience of being a “go-to” Live Nation Canada act, invited to perform at numerous national music festivals such as the Warped Tour, and opened for celebrated Canadian acts Finger Eleven and Theory of a Deadman. Heavily inspired by the showmanship of icons Bruce Springsteen and Billie Joe Armstrong, John performs with a bright and contagious energy that can be seen in “New Vibration”.
“New Vibration” is an upbeat, pop/rock track that blends the nostalgic sound of the 50’s, 90’s, and early 2000’s. Inspired by John’s favourite radio smash hits of the iconic eras, the catchy melody in “New Vibration” will be stuck in the heads of listeners to dance and sing along to. Despite recording the tune remotely in 2020 during the lockdown, John’s enthusiastic love for his fiancé echoed through this lively tune. John’s positive infectious energy in “New Vibration” is a phenomenon that is rarely seen.
Co-produced by Siegfried Meier and mixed by Shawn Moore, alongside the collaborative efforts of talented musicians; Nik Hughes (drummer of The Bush), Fred Mascherino (former guitarist of Taking Back Sunday and current guitarist of Angels & Airwaves), Chris Hurst (keys for Dustin Lynch), and Nicholas Keays (former lead singer of Mugshot, current lead singer of The North River), “New Vibration” is full to the brim with a unique blend of incredible vocal and instrumental talent.
“New Vibration is about how my fiancé lifts me up to a higher frequency in life. When we met, we couldn’t ignore the feeling of a magnetic pull between us. Everything we experience together, even challenges, deepens and strengthens our relationship. To live my best life, I tune my frequency to her.”
Biography
“After over a decade fronting alternative rock bands, Kitchener, Ontario-based artist, John Maksym, decided to go out on his own. The Canadian singer-songwriter spent his early childhood jumping on his parents’ furniture donning a mask, cape, and red toy guitar, pretending to perform on the big stage, entertaining the masses, though he never could have imagined the professional heights he would reach. Inspired by an eclectic group of musicians—including the showmanship of Bruce Springsteen and remarkable talent of Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong—John has notably become an in-demand artist and performer across Ontario. With a sound that embodies the alt-rock music of the 90’s with his fresh, modern take, John has grown into an artist to be reckoned with.
As the former front man of nationally acclaimed rock band Breaching Vista, John’s 13 years with the group saw them grow into one of Live Nation Canada’s go-to acts, with invitations for them to play festival stages across the country including the Vans Warped Tour. The group was also the local, go-to opener for hit bands coming through Southwestern Ontario, including Finger Eleven and Theory of a Deadman. From appearing on the cover of ECHO magazine to performing at the highly coveted Gemini Awards, Breaching Vista became a sought-after, well-respected Canadian band. Their single “Sleep” became an instant hit among fans and entered into the top 200 on Canada’s alternative-rock charts.
A true showman, John spent years on the road with his band, honing his craft as a performer. Now on his own, John is looking forward to incorporating his deep passion for personal development into his shows, sharing personal experiences and the meanings of his songs with the audience, as soon as he can get back on the road.
Two of John’s current songs (Drinkin’ & Thinkin’ / Planet) have been recognized as semi-finalists in multiple Nashville based songwriting competitions; the International Songwriting Competition (ISC), Unsigned Only, and Music City Songstar.
Having released nine singles since kicking off in 2020, with more music on the way, John has found his own sound within the modern rock genre, adding into his music elements of country, electronic, pop, Caribbean, and throwbacks to the sounds of the 60’s, as well as the 90’s. John is currently focused on writing and recording new music, with his highly anticipated “Grease” meets “Back to the Future” throwback music video set for release on June 28th, 2021.
