Mourning Coffee is ready to rock your world. Today the outfit releases the dreamy track “Gemini II,” which is, in a word; EPIC. The hazy vocals of frontman Christian Diana takes on a strong and powerful tone that reminds us of the nostalgic indie sounds of the aughts.

A melodic masterpiece entwined with his poignant lyricism, “Gemini II” excels across all fronts, serving as the paradigmatic single to propel his passionate and evocative songwriting to the mainstream.

Mourning Coffee is a singer-songwriter from New Jersey, formerly signed to Brink Records and Manic Kat Records, and former frontman of touring band The Foxfires. He released ‘Introvert/Extrovert’ in 2021, followed by a couple collaborative singles and ‘RETROGRADE’ in 2022. Now rebranded as Mourning Coffee and accompanied by a band, he takes a new tone for the upcoming year.

With the slow-paced production adding to the sensuality of the track, Mourning Coffee delivers some heartfelt lyrics which emulate the glowing atmosphere.

“Gemini II” is a hauntingly beautiful release, that proves to be passionate, direct, and frequently stripped down. Mourning Coffee embraces his new world, which combined with his raw vocal performances culminates in a breathtakingly sentimental body of work. Confident, assured, and audacious, the accomplished artist has constructed a phenomenal body of work, whose progressive songwriting is destined for greatness. There is more to come from Mourning Coffee over the next few months so be sure to keep your ears open.

“Gemini’s archetype is known as The Twins, therefore I created ‘Gemini I’ & ‘Gemini II’. There is no container big enough for all the different selves we hold. Both songs are the same yet expressed differently, which felt fitting since Gemini governs communication and connection. Both touch on these themes heavily, as the protagonist gets lost in an exchange of words with someone new. Even before meeting them, he’s attracted to their energy. Given Gemini’s element is air, both versions express a lightness musically, and much like air picks up, both get more intense as the relationship develops. While ‘Gemini I’ keeps things more intimate like a secret, ‘Gemini II’ allows itself to be more wild and free.”
