Speedfossil enjoyed a whirlwind trip over the pond the last week of May to make their UK debut at the 20th Anniversary of the International Pop Overthrow Festival. After their triumphant shows at Liverpool’s Cavern Club, the band traveled to London to record a track at Abbey Road Studios. That track is, “Silver Lining.”

Garret Vandermolen tells Amplify the saga of how “Silver Lining” came to be.

“Just three weeks ago, the song didn’t exist. The Speedfossil band decided to record some new material on our trip to the UK last week, where were playing TWO shows at the International Pop Overthrow festival in Liverpool (which was a fantastic experience!).” Luckily, we were also able to book studio time in a place we all consider a “holy land” of sorts, Abbey Road Studios in London!   On Monday, May 27th, after a 10-hour flight with a stopover in Iceland (and no sleep), myself and Speedfossil guitarist, Dan Jordan, headed to Abbey Road to meet up with bassist Michael Scotti and drummer Chris Walsh, who had arrived in the UK the day before.  We tracked and mixed this new song, all in one day, with Abbey Road Engineer, Paul Pritchard (he’s worked with a who’s who of artists, including Paul McCartney, Sting, Elton John, The Arctic Monkeys, Sigur Ros, Blondie, to name a few…). I’m thrilled with how it turned out”

“Silver Lining” will be on the Fall LP release/compilation SPEEDFOSSIL-TIME FLIES 2014-2024.
