Who doesn’t love a Snow Day!? I fondly remember listening to the radio broadcasts, as a child, hoping to hear that we’d gotten enough snow overnight to close the schools for the day. Bookbags got put away, in exchange for gloves, hats, boots and scarves. This song brings back those memories so vividly.

The Holiday Hustle Club is a throwback to the era of iconic vocalists and songwriters. It connects to the Great American Songbook through the likes of Irving Berlin, Mel Tormé and Billie Holiday. And it introduces new tunes inspired by their sophisticated musicality, simple storytelling, and winking innuendos.

Athens, Georgia-based songwriter, vocalist and jazz pianist, Bart King, began The Holiday Hustle Club out of his love for classic holiday tunes and a desire to showcase his city’s talented indie vocalists in a different setting. “Playing great holiday tunes is the one thing that is guaranteed to put me in the spirit, so for years — even when I was busy with other projects — I always played private holiday parties,” King said. “Then last year, I decided it was time to go public.”

For the vocals, King turned to the wonderful Claire Campbell (who you may know from the outfits Dark Meat and Hope For Agoldensummer) and a children’s chorus that nails the backing vocals.

“Snow Day!” can be found on the EP of the same name, out today!
