Today, Wendake, QC-based artist ANYMA, released her incredible new single “Home to You” via all streaming platforms. The new song captures the essence of ANYMA’s unique sound with impactful lyrics about struggling to not lose track of the person you love.
“It’s about two lovers losing sight of what they hold. The pain that can follow and what it takes to navigate this nearly impossible complexity of the human condition. When we have no way of figuring out how to navigate the impossible, that sense of love can be the simplest, purest answer. In that, love can represent a sense of hope. I’m a romantic, I’m a lover, and true love is something I believe in. This song honours that part of myself,” said ANYMA.
It has been an exciting year of growth for the singer-songwriter. ANYMA was the cover and curator for Spotify’s Indigenous Playlist for the month of July 2021, appearing on the Young/Dundas billboard in Toronto, ON, and was featured nationwide in a documentary as a part of Spotify’s on The Record program. Additionally, ANYMA teamed up with Notable Life for a takeover of their cultural section in celebration of Indigenous History Month.
Born and raised in Wendake, QC, First Nations artist ANYMA was encouraged to pursue a path of creative exploration by her dancer and choreographer mother, and father who was a musician, producer, and the cultural chief of their community. Taking inspiration from her parents, ANYMA became a professional musician, composer, dancer, and circus performer, and was introduced to the stage through her father’s professional production of “Ozalik” which actively ran for five years in Quebec before his untimely death in 2018.
After years of grief followed her, ANYMA began to write again seeking her own form of medicine. She started working with producer Pierre-Olivier Couturier(Carlie Hansen, Roxanne Bruneau, Jade Goudreault, La Voix) and began to develop songs that reflected her fight to overcome the darkness, including her recently released single “If God Had a Boat.” The song has already seen great success, resonating with audiences around the world, and leading to 100k audio streams, and Top 40 on the Indigenous Music Countdown.
ANYMA is currently putting the finishing touches on her new EP which will be released later this year.
