By Amanda Daubert – Long time fans of the Arizona rock band Archetypes Collide are finally getting the band’s first full length album dropping March 31st. After almost a decade of incredible singles and two EPs, the debut self-titled album features 12 tracks of rich vocals, pounding drums, and piercing guitar riffs that fans new and old will be sure to enjoy.
We’ve been given a sneak peek into the album with the first single “My Own Device,” a track with deep emotion, haunting lyrics, and the heart-wrenching screams fans have grown to love. The second single “What If I Fall,” offered us a beautiful dichotomy of passionate choruses and fast paced power chords. Most recent single, “Parasite” ramps up the energy with a song you can’t help but scream along to.
Keeping the energy high with hints of Linkin Park and Powerman 5000 fans will love “Suffocate Me,” “Deep End,” and “Separate.” Each track offers the fire, passion, and contentious lyrics many have grown to expect from the band, and it’s what they truly love. Listening to the lyrics, you can hear the pain and anguish, making each track personal, and to some, very relatable.
Slowing it down a bit and highlighting lead singer Kyle Pastor’s vocals, you have “Paranoid Paralyzed,” a slightly more pop-rock track that stands out in all the best ways. Keeping in a slightly slower groove which barrels into a powerful chorus you also have the commanding track “Silence.”
When discussing the album, Pastor said “I’ve always had a deep rooted fear of letting my friends and family down. Even though I know they’ll love me in the midst of my failures, the anxiety of it all buries me and pushes me further away from them.” A painfully honest sentiment that resonates through the album.
Be sure to check out Archetypes Collide out everywhere March 31st and catch the band on tour starting May 1st running across the US through June 15th.
