Filmed at a Walmart during their Austin trip, the single was co-produced by Rado, “one of indie rock’s most in-demand producers” (Billboard). Energetic single “Up All Night” captures the joy in losing sleep over a new love, with lovesick lyrics and staccato keyboard that imbue the track with a giddy feel.
Influenced by artists like David Bowie, Quincy Jones, Tyler, the Creator, and Phoenix, the four piece looks like they are straight out of a Wes Anderson movie. Performing with artists like Alice Phoebe Lou, Milky Chance, and Parcels Rikas have been taking Europe by storm.
In a heartbeat Rikas turn an evening without a plan, a movie without a plot, into something unforgettable. Ferdinand plays drums, Sam is on bass, Chris plays guitar, Sascha guitar and keyboards. They all have their unique superpower, but none of them stands in the spotlight alone. They create their songs together. They all sing, preferably involving anthemic backing vocals. Starting out from their hometown Stuttgart there they have already earned themselves an ever growing fanbase around Europe. Singles like “Overthinking” or “I Always Think Of You (When I Listen To This Song)” gathered millions of streams , Rikas became a live phenomenon in Germany and word of mouth started spreading across the borders. Performing over 300 shows including festivals such as Fusion Festival or MS Dockville in Hamburg and supporting artists like Milky Chance, Alt J or Alice Phoebe Lou around Europe they quickly gathered themselves a reputation.
After releasing their debut album “Showtime” in late 2019 and a postponed tour Rikas found themselves in a writer’s block. With their single “Overthinking” in late 2020 and the following EP “Short Stories” they overcame that phase. They travelled to Amsterdam, worked with Benny Sings on new music for “Goodbye Sunshine EP” that was later produced in LA with Jonathan Rado (Whitney, Father John Misty, Weyes Blood). 2023 marks a new milestone for the band: they are about to produce their second studio album at the Hansa Studios Berlin, followed by an international campaign throughout 2023/24 accompanied by a first European headline tour and festival appearances.
